Lucie Svoboda

I see my work as a record of my daily life. The writings concern what I like to call seemingly banal activities, such as walking the dog. It doesn’t matter what season it is; nature always sends impulses in the form of shapes and colors that I store somewhere in my subconscious. Swimming, for example, is like a medium for me where I create sketches for the next plan or progression on an existing canvas with each dive underwater. Emotions are always pulsing as well, adding another type of charge that I need for self-expression in my work. These daily stimuli are the filing cabinet I draw from in my studio, where I create with paint a fantasy climate for those eyes that like to find shapes in the clouds, that like to look into the flames of the fire and wish they could read it. Abstraction is an individual story for each new observer.

Lucie Svoboda, born in Liberec in 1972, has been painting and drawing since early childhood, her favorite subject being the world of insects.

She graduated from the Art School of Glass, majoring in Artistic Processing of Jewellery in Glass, under the guidance of Professor Laďka Laštovičková.

After graduation, her travels took her outside her field of study, and thanks to the Italian language she acquired after graduation, Lucie worked as a translator. In 1997, Lucie started working in the tourism industry, and from then until 2016, she was the manager of the 5-star hotel chain Alchymist Luxury Group.

In 2005, she smelled canvas and paint again, and since then, she slowly started to return to art.

In 2016, she traded her career as a hotel manager for a career as an avid abstract artist, which, in time, turned out to be one of the best decisions of her life. Her artworks are part of personal collections around the world.
