How I create
One of my exhibitions is called "Existential Compulsions" - my compulsion is to create in colors on the canvas. In my case, it is not true that I need a specific plan in advance for what I am going to create. I go to create because I am interested in the process where I can experience and discover new things. With the first layer I have found that my position is the most relaxed - I keep returning to that feeling in my mind during the next layering of paint. It begs the question of why I am so interested in being as relaxed as possible - I feel it is my meta. It is my personal claim to the believability of what I am creating. I feel most comfortable creating when what is happening on the canvas comes from somewhere in the underbelly, and the head is present, gently accompanying the creation.
During the first layer, I start to observe what is happening on the canvas, and I like to liken this to a surfer sitting on the shore with his board watching the sea - waiting for a wave, and so I perceive myself waiting for what I am introducing on the canvas. A wave of imagination rolls in; I jump on, knowing exactly what the next hand stroke will be and what color I will mix. These are mainly geometric and organic morphologies that I see in nature. I'm not a conceptual artist, and I don't touch on any tricky topics that should be thought-provoking. My work is mostly about celebrating nature.
Authored Reproductions
It’s a digital print on canvas. By using high-quality print, I am creating more believable reproductions, adding paint to shade and contrast the painting. On the reproduction, you will find parts with real paint, and that way, the copy looks more authentic. In the end, it has more personality, originality, and value than a typical digital print on canvas.
